What is commercial drainage?

Commercial drainage is the process of removing water from commercial or industrial facilities. The water is typically removed through a network of pipes and drains that carry the water away from the site. Commercial drainage facilities can be used to manage a variety of different types of water problems, including: flooding, basement drainage, surface water runoff, and groundwater infiltration.

Commercial drainage systems can be divided into two main types: gravity and pumped systems. Gravity systems rely on the weight of the water to pull it down the pipe system; while pumped systems use pumps to move the water along the pipe system. Each type has its own benefits and drawbacks.

Gravity systems are simple and easy to install; however, they may not be able to handle high volumes of water. Pumped systems are more expensive up front but can handle larger volumes of water; however, they require maintenance and may not be able to handle sudden changes in flow. It's important to choose the right system for your needs: if you don't need large volumes of water handled quickly, a gravity system might be a better option.

To ensure proper drainage in commercial areas, it's important to have an accurate understanding of your facility's layout and capabilities. This information can be gathered through hydrostatic testing or by reviewing past storm reports. Additionally, regular inspection is essential for detecting any sign of trouble early on – this will help avoid costly repairs later on.
